Good morning, Harry Miller Blue Bears!

Athletic announcements:

Could those students who were on the JV girls soccer team and JV girls basketball and badminton team meet Mrs. Throop in the gym immediately after announcements in the gym.

Today the cheer team practices from 6-8:30.

Band and Choir announcements:

Today, low brass rehearsal 2nd half of lunch today.

Today’s song: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers:

Total solar eclipse: The last time the path of a total solar eclipse crossed Canada was in 1979 (Mrs. Demmons was 8).

Remember that while the partial eclipse for a location will be about one to three hours long, the time to catch the total eclipse is much shorter – lasting only a few seconds to about three minutes.

People watching an eclipse should be wearing special glasses that meet the safety requirements. Regular sunglasses should not be worn while looking at the eclipse, experts say.

Looking directly at the sun without proper protection can lead to serious problems, such as partial or complete loss of eyesight.

Will the eclipse damage your phone or camera? Yes it sure will.  The lens of your phone or camera as well as your eyes concentrates sunlight into one spot and that can cause damage. So don’t use your phone’s camera to view the eclipse.
